Feat. Foam & Glass / 2015
was a performance related gesture, created solely for the exhibition FIGHTCLUB at TOVES (contemporary artist run art space).
The show FIGHTCLUB depicted aggression and the strange feeling one might get during a fight at a nightclub as a generative way to look at and create art.
The work Feat. Foam & Glass was me as a bartender handing out beers to the visitors in the show but at the same time spawn impatience, confusion and even aggression on a more psychological level. This was created by a certain script of behavior of the Bartender Character. The Bartender took in orders as people entered the bar, but at the same time delaying handing out beers, by deliberately creating foam in the glass every time a beer was created. This system meant that each beer took 2 minutes of the visitors time, every time they entered the bar.
Example 5 people in line, ordering a beer = the last person has to wait 10 minutes at minimum.
as a safety valve, if people attended the bar with aggression, the Bartender could smash a glass against the wall to create even more aggression or stun people...
Broken glass everywhere
People pissin' on the stairs, you know they just don't care
I can't take the smell, can't take the noise
Got no money to move out, I guess I got no choice
Rats in the front room, roaches in the back
Junkies in the alley with the baseball bat
I tried to get away but I couldn't get far
Cause a man with a tow truck repossessed my car
