JACOB Jessen Kopi / 2014

"A few weeks ago on Facebook I got an invitation for the exhibition ' JACOB Jessen COPY ' .

I imagined that the exhibition was made by the artist Jacob Jessen and traded on the copy as a phenomenon , but something seemed wrong: It did not exactly resemble a work by Jacob Jessen, but clearly had him as protagonist.

The only informative text about the exhibition on Facebook was: " MEET ME AT TOVES ... SOUNDS AS A BAD COPY OF THE ORIGINAL FILM TITLE ".

By a simple call I got the answer: "The exhibition is not of Jessen, but the danish artist Kristoffer Akselbo . On the other hand , it is about Jessen."

Throughout the exhibition at Toves your copy of Jessen will be present - with a dumb mask created as a copy of Jessen's face. And several of Jessen's works will be remade as part of the exhibition maneuvers in copies and originals.

The exhibition here unfolds between Facebook (and of course with a small critical point about the life we all stages as a version of ourselves just there ) and the exhibition itself on Toves."

Translated excerpt from Marie Kjær Themsen text in Politiken: Artist copying colleague in secretive exhibition. Kristoffer Akselbo latest exhibition has Jacob Jessen as the protagonist.
